Treatment and prevention
Preparation and planning
We believe that collaboration and consultation are key to the success of your treatment and prevention plans. Before committing to any services, we will meet with you to discuss how we can help and create a plan. During your first appointment, we will answer any questions you may have, address your concerns and ensure you understand our recommended course of treatment.
Below are some of the primary services and treatments options we offer.
Our services
-
Periodontal disease is a common condition that results in inflammation of the gums, bone loss around your teeth, and even tooth loss. We specialize in treatment and prevention of periodontal disease with both non-surgical and surgical treatment options.
-
Scaling and root planing, or a deep cleaning, targets the plaque and tartar both above and below the gumline. This is typically completed by our highly specialized dental hygiene team over 2 or more appointments.
-
These procedures are completed to increase gum thickness around your teeth in order to prevent progressive gum recession and sensitivity.
-
You may be referred to us for crown lengthening to create space for your dentist to place a properly fitting crown restoration or to improve a “gummy-smile”. Either way, it is a common procedure where both bone and gum tissue are removed to expose more of your natural tooth.
-
Bone grafting is performed to build back lost bone. Sometimes this is completed for esthetic reasons or to accommodate dental implant placement.
-
Dental implants are a great solution for replacing missing teeth in appropriate situations. At Bedford Periodontics, we use the latest digital technologies for dental implant treatment planning and placement. We complete the surgical portion of your treatment, while your dentist or restorative specialist completes the final restoration.
Unfortunately, dental implants can develop complications such as peri-implantitis, inflammation and bone loss around the implant. We specialize in treating these complex conditions to restore health and function.
-
This is a simple procedure to reduce or remove the muscle attachment from your lip, which inserts in between your teeth. A frenectomy is often completed during or after orthodontic treatment to help prevent the spaces between your teeth from reopening.
-
Sometimes teeth need a little help to erupt. This procedure is completed in order to locate and expose those teeth by removing the surrounding gum tissue and bone. Sometimes a button is cemented in place so that your orthodontist can start to move the tooth into place.
-
You may have been told that we will use a laser during your recommended treatment. This is a versatile tool we like to use to reduce post-operative discomfort, speed up your recovery and aid in better treatment outcomes.
